if the Football Web Pages prediction for the playoff final https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/sout ... /predicted were to come true, I hope that HTFC would forgo the revenue from extra tickets to make sure there were only a small number of tickets available for away fans

It's the Yeltz, most people know the hardcore 100 or so core regulars that go to away games regularly.
Honestly, I don't know if they do?

Here's an example..... I was in the pub on Friday and - just as I was telling an old work colleague about The Mighty Yeltz (as I am known to do with a captive audience) - somebody sat down at the table next to me, took off his Yeltz scarf and plonked it on the table. We had a chat - he's been going down for years, and so have I - but he didn't recognise me and I didn't recognise him.

I'm sure I could rattle off names of people that I see and stand by on matchday - they aren't on social media, they aren't on any groupchats or similar, and they're probably not on here either - and yet they'd have just as much as a claim to a ticket as anyone else.

All suggestions aside, the club were never going to win, and many hundreds of Yeltz fans were going to have to miss out on going. They've tried to do it fairly, so that everyone outside of season ticket holders had a chance. If - as suggested - someone at the club would have sat down with a list and cherrypicked their favourites, I can't help but think that would have created more issues?

My person opinion is that the club will know the names of the fans who are loyal and will do right be them.cant be more then 150-175 tickets available in the ballot anyway.
Who judges loyalty?
I know going to the odd game, entering a ballot and 'wining' a ticket, only to try and sell it for a profit isn't loyal! But I do understand your point. There's many ways to judge loyalty, but it's also a very subjective thing. It's not something I'd want to try and define.

The club have been placed in a very difficult situation where some fans were always gonna be disappointed and feel aggrieved at not getting a ticket. But I'm seeing people who I know for a fact those who can make decisions to 'award' tickets in a ballot know personally but have missed out on tickets and go to the majority of the games. Such people would probably accept not being selected if they weren't seeing part time fans who only go to these sort of 'big games' get hold of tickets (although, I'm not sure how they know they're part time fans, just going off a number of Tweets I've seen and Facebook posts I've been shown).

It's a thankless task, and I feel for the club as they're in a no-win situation. But that being said, I do feel it could have been handled slightly better. For the record I'm a season ticket holder, and was able to get a ticket, so I'm not personally affected.
Good points. But this is the madness of football. Its 90 minutes. No-ones life will change by being there or not. But it turns into a me first contest because Ive been to more games than you. In a months time, no-one will give it a second thought.

This is a good post.

We can all come up with our own ways of allocating the tickets, but ultimately there's no right way and you'll always have fans losing out to fans that maybe don't 'deserve' a ticket. The club have been put in a thankless situation. I don't envy whoever had the final say on the ballot!

It's a shame it's come to this. It should have been a great day on Saturday with a couple of thousand fans enjoying football, putting much needed money into a local club and local pubs.

Funnily enough, I was saying the other day that I don't actually know who 90% of the people on this forum are in real life.

I think the only ones I can probably put a name to are Josh and Yeltzbaby ;D

I believe both clubs have looked at staging the game else where but to many hurdles were in place.
The club is going through a revamp off the pitch and plans are in place for next year.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.

By no means is this a criticism but maybe the purchase of flexi or season tickets solves this problem for most people.
I’ve brought flexi tickets for the last 5 years or so and some years I’ve struggled to use all the vouchers but I do so in knowing it’s all much needed revenue for the club.

I know a way the club couldn't be held to account over allocation. First of all give season ticket holders the option and then put the remainder in a ballot with everyone getting an equal chance.
Oh, hang on a minute....🤔

I'm a season ticket holder and I'm not going just don't like the place. A lot of away regulars that go on coaches and their separate ways should of got ticket's. My simple answer would of been to reject the allocation because the club can never win. Strange really everyone hates the place but so many want to go.

Unfortunately the playoff games require each home club to allow 25% of tickets to the opponents

I absolutely loathe the place, but it's not a sight seeing tour, it just happens to be where we are playing.
