I don’t think that we’ve ever had a match played with a lino missing before.
What was discussed during the hold-up?
Was it at risk of being called off?
Is there a chance that Barton could appeal the result?
I've not seen it in 1208 matches.......
Barton (and to be fair who wouldn't) weren't exactly happy to carry on...........
very much so, then the league secretary was contacted and he said there's a rule in place that can see a game finish with 2 officials. We had no lino running our defensive half
No chance.
It was hilarious and frustrating in equal measure. I didn't go to bed till 12.45am, I'm old ya know.........

Cheers HH.
I presume that we put the call in to the league Sec.
If so, then whoever did that deserves a pint as they played an important part in the 3 points!

John Cooper last night, from memory,
Rule 14.3
In the event of any of the match officials being appointed for a match not being in attendance at the match or becoming unable to complete the match it shall be completed under the control of the remaining match officials unless the clubs are able to agree to a substitute Who is acceptable to the match referee; should the appointed referee fail to appear then the senior assistant should take charge. Any substitute agreed for a match shall be considered a match official for the purposes of that match.
In the event that a club causing a match to be abandoned in the relation to the operation of this rule the that club shall be charged with failing to fulfill a fixture.
Well done JC

Well done JohnC indeed.
The last sentence suggests that the if either side throw a strop, they get charged with not fulfilling the fixture, so I guess that left Barton little option.
What larks.

Great article by Paul in Saturdays programme about Tuesday night,
I must just say, in 32 years of programme writing, I've edited countless Managers notes and whilst he's only written 5 so far, Paul's are the best by miles

PS if Barton were in full agreement when already 3-1 down then full credit to them. A more cynical club may have pushed for an abandonment. Look forward to hearing more details.
From Paul’s post-match interview it seems quite the reverse and they were trying to get it called off.
So fuck ‘em.
Did he really say that Colin Brookes offered to run the line???

He really did. And he would have knowing Colin!
