Squad

Post by andy » 29 Jul 2017, 21:17

Not being able to access the menu on the official site I have no idea just how many players we have. Take the trialists out of todays fixture and we barely had a team. Can someone please update on here just who we actually have.

I'm led to believe that there were around 6 players that were unavailable for various reasons.
Holidays, knocks etc.

If it's anywhere near what we had last season - we're in trouble.

9 players have officially been announced but id imagine a there are 3 or 4 players who are close to signing, but are down as trialists as there was no official team sheet

We appear to have:

Platt
Kelly
Steele
Charlton
Lewis
Morrison
Bragoli
Goddard
Chilton
Shearer
Spray
Walker

So I would imagine we definitely have 12 'signed' or as good as. Plus, a few trialists and then loan signings. I've probably missed some as well!

Ok, thanks all for that. It appears we may have more than I thought if quite a few were unavailable.

I'd keep away from gas ovens, if I were you!
Blimey, I thought I could be negative!!

Admitedly negative, but also a tint of realism. We're not going to win the league, are we?

From what I've seen in pre-season the lad Shearer impresses me. Hopefully he won't be isolated for large periods and we can play to his strengths.

I may be wrong but certainly at home I don't see a striker becoming isolated this season. No matter how good or bad we are I think players will be more willing to push forward with the ball rather than punting it because the pitch is so much better. It played really true yesterday and players seemed more willing to try accurate short passing and moving the ball AND players forward at the same time. I'm not saying we are going to pull up any trees but that style was a move in the right direction for me. If we DO start lumping it every week on this surface THEN serious questions will need to be asked.

I agree andy, what i have noticed in the past couple of seasons we have played better away from home, but on saturday we played some good stuff with the ball on the ground and looked confident. The pitch is the best it has been in years also it seems that hill and Clarke have brought in the players to play attractive football
