Thought new loan signing from Burton Jack Holmes looks a quality player.
Be good if the initial month loan period can be extended for the rest of the season.
As you registered about an hour ago, thanks Jack/Jack's dad/agent/friend. ;) ;D

he stood out like a sore thumb when we played Burton the other week, but I didn’t take too much from it as it was a senior cup, but today proved that he has got something special

Good to also see Manning get a full game.
Second half especially he settled down and looked a decent player. However could say that about most of the team today :)

Great performance
Great team
Great win

Had the ‘reserve’s’ on today and still blitz them
- would of shared a few goals with the Coleshill match but still nevermind!

We’re Halesowen - we win when we want!

Agree with the consensus that we weren’t great the first half. Not sure if poor is the right word but more so disjointed and flat. Perhaps too many changes to the lineup didn’t help but we seemed to forget we can play football on the floor and resorted to hoof ball tactics which didn’t really work - although wasn’t overly worried as felt we were still the better team and Robbie Bunn’s deflected goal just before half time give us the credible lead.

Second half felt like Smith gave them a rocket up the backside which was much needed. More urgency and fluency about the performance which led this to be comfortable at 5-0 and we played more like the side we know we can be.

Again, to come away and win 5-0 and not feel ecstatic is crazy but you know these players can do so much more but had we played to the levels we did the second in the first half it could have been many more which again shows great testament to the side and squad as a whole. Special mentions today to Robbie Bunn who was fantastic and also the new lad Jack Holmes on his debut who looks a real talent.

Most important thing though today was another 3pts and Corby losing. What a game that will be next week!

You said that before the game John, and you were spot on! Looks a great addition - albeit temporary. It will however ease the pressure on the squad a bit and he may even be allowed to see the season through with us.

BetVictor Southern League - Division One Central – Saturday, 18th January 2020

Halesowen Town 5 Daventry Town 0

Robbie Bunn struck a brace as five-star Halesowen stepped up a gear from a slow start to thump Daventry in a dominant second half performance.

Bunn set up Josh Hawker to shoot straight at goalkeeper Justin Cerga in the 7th minute and Cerga beat the ball away after Bunn whipped in a 15th minute free-kick. Jamie Ashmore’s 21st minute cross along goal was then cleared. But the first period was a disjointed affair with the Yeltz performing below their recent standards and Daventry’s Jack Bowen headed wide at the far post after 40 minutes and home goalkeeper Bradley Catlow punched away Aaron King’s 41st minute corner.

After the quiet start, the Yeltz grabbed a 43rd minute lead when BUNN’s shot from the left took a marked deflection to loop into the net. In the final minute of the first period, Montel Gibson’s shot earned a corner and Cerga punched another Gibson chance clear.

But the second half was a completely different story as the rampant Yeltz tore Daventry apart with four more goals.

Ash Sammons played a lovely ball down the left of the penalty area for BUNN to smash home and increase the lead with his second goal in the 48th minute. Just a minute later Bunn played a fine cross field ball for Isai MARSELIA to control and slam home to mark his return to the Grove. Sammons and Bunn then made a great interchange of passes to earn a 55th minute corner and Gibson’s effort was deflected for another corner two minutes later. Cerga made a good save to deny Sammons after 58 minutes and McKauley Manning brought a good save from Cerga in the 62nd minute with Gibson planting the rebound just over the bar.

Halesowen were now in complete control and the home side made it 4-0 in the 69th minute when Marselia was brought down by Oliver Stanbridge and SAMMONS fired home a low and hard penalty. Substitute Simeon COBOURNE latched onto a ball through the middle and slotted home with great composure to complete the scoring at 5-0 in the 80th minute.

Home substitute Jack Holmes - a recent loan signing from Burton Albion - looked lively late on and he curled just wide after 82 minutes before firing at Cerga following a good mazy run a minute later. The Yeltz ended the game with ten men after defender Andy Parsons limped out of the game with five minutes remaining and Bradley Catlow made a good save from Bowen as well beaten Daventry went close in the final minute.
