I too do not mind an initative to bring in further paying fans in the future. ;D

What i did not like which has been stopped was people walking in for free to watch the second half a few seasons back. >:(

When i was Walsall's photographer they used to give shouts out on Social Media to one particular non league team for non league day.

Do you think it may be worth banging an email off to Villa, Brum and Boings to see if we can get them to give us a mention.

Many fans who support teams in the Prem do not know teams like ours even exist and those clubs wouldnt bother to promote us unless we give them a push.

Just a thought.

Think this really needs to be promoted and driven by the fans as this is a great opportunity to boost the attendance what with no Villa/Albion games on this day.

Many have mentioned about reduced prices and I think this would be a good idea. I started following 'Non-League Day on Twitter and noticed that Boldmore St. Michaels have a gimmick '200 for 200' ie. get 200 fans into the ground for 200p (£2)

As an idea we could maybe follow suit, we are capable of getting more fans than that so how about '500 for £5' - so charge adults £5 to get in and concessions/kids for £1. As mentioned season ticket holders may moan but why not give them something back? Maybe a voucher for a free drink at the bar? Or keep the prices the same and give everyone a voucher for a free drink at the turnstiles on entry?

This would be a great opportunity to try and entice new fans to come down so think there needs to be an incentive. I always try and bring a new friend or two when I come down to The Grove and could maybe get a few more but a few scoff at the idea of paying £8 (or £10 as it will be this season) I think they think the standard of football will be abysmal but those I have brought down have been surprised by the quality these players actually have.

I just think reducing the price is an incentive, a sort of 'introductory offer' to encourage new fans and would get more bodies through the gates.

Great post, that. Love the '£5 for 500' idea. Free drink would be a nice touch to season ticket holders. The majority would understand that the club has to be a bit creative every now and then, to help gather some interest, and everyone benefits from a bigger gate and better atmosphere.

Sooner the club can decide on what offer to run, the better. Then everyone can start going about promoting it, and it would be nice to see the Halesowen News doing their bit to promote.

I have an idea, it's a bit whacky to say the least and would only really work if a good number of us were prepared to give it a go. Who would be game?

I think we should do a Halesowen Town themed 'flash mob' event. If you don't know what that is, take a look at this link;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bnYpCiwV2Q

Now, I'm not for a minute suggesting that any of us could perform like in the video (Apart from John C maybe) but could we do a Yeltz themed version? A chorus of "There's a bright Golden Haze on the Meadow" by one or two, slowly being joined by 40 or 50 other men, women and children all in Halesowen shirts, John Hill T-Shirts and pinning up the Halesowen Town flags. Colin could appear carrying a trophy along with the players all in club tracksuits juggling footballs. To add authenticity Trevor could come and run into the fans as Tonkys smacks a 99p football into the crowd and we all go nuts. Sheila would be sweeping the floor around us as we stand outside the Cornbow. Dave Hawley would be there to photograph it all.

If this was done at say 11am on the morning of the game in the town centre we could all then dish out free tickets to people as well as hand out posters to every shop in the Town centre with our fixtures on whilst the players and coaches do a few skills and tricks to entertain the kids in the town. At 12 midday we (the fans) all do a pubcrawl to the ground, having a Yeltz sing song as we recruit people to attend the game.

By 2pm we're all in the ground, or more importantly the JG Lounge before we sing the lads to victory.

Told you it was whacky...

Riiggghhht!!!!!!!!!!

You've been drinking from those bottles you find by the roadside again havent you???

It is actually a very good idea, well i like it anyway.

We'd have to get a jazzed up version of the song though, its a little 'tea dance' like for a flash mob, and i've got to have a part of it, not video it.

watching fat lad dance is somewhat hypnotic ;D

Crazy idea Rob but if people are up for it then why not...

For me, there is just not enough done to promote Halesowen Town in the area. I wear my (yes somewhat old) Yeltz shirt in the pubs near the ground ie. The Whitley, The Hawne Tavern etc. on match day where I normally go for a pre-match drink before the game and obviously wearing the shirt generates conversation with the regulars in there.

But I get asked questions like 'oh are Halesowen playing today then?' Or 'who have Halesowen got today then?' Or even I think worryingly 'what league are Halesowen in these days?'

These are locals and in my opinion potential support that could be attracted to attend games with better promotion/publicity. Maybe if adverts were put up in the local pubs advertising out games with a Yeltz shirt hanging above the bar to show that yes there is a football club in the town, and one that they should be proud of.

Halesowen is a large catchment area and we are one of the oldest football clubs in the country and have a great history what with FA Vase/Wembley trips etc.

Or something like this...

Half a dozen yellow shirted supporters v First team players in blue.

Crowd turn up to watch and cheers, bring flags etc...

Something has been decided and will be announced tomorrow hopefully. :-)

Will need plenty of help with promotion of the event etc.
