HH, I'm sensing we're being drawn into a wind up here. It's probably Doc's alter ego.😂

At the risk of causing further angst, would it be impolite to remind people that when we joined the Southern League, it placed us in the top 66 non-league clubs in England? With the current pyramid we are at best 161st in the English non-league structure (below 24 tier 1 clubs, 48 tier 2 and 88 tier 3)
Things are positive (and without the intervention of Keith, Karen and others in the period 2009-18 things would be much, much worst), but let's not let us get carried away and forget the bigger picture.

Also, FWIW, I think that Andy deserves an extra George for consistency (and it has been a long time since the last George award)

For once, not me on the wind-up.

I can see YB’s pov and distance probably makes me lean towards a more sanguine view too.
I’d much rather the positivity than the TalkSporty “we’m the best ever”, “fire everyone” pendulum, but we’re not the finished article yet.
Mr Avery’s urology based predictions are not quite on the cards and HH’s statification shows that we probably don’t alway show.
Anyhoo, it’s fun isn’t it?

As an aside, and to judge something else, Platty on 5:55 here, wow.
Is he as good as we’ve had since Danny?
Perhaps second only to Danny?

Should have caught it........ more concerned about that young supporter to the right behind Insall (after he gets injured scoring). He looks despondent about the rest of the season........... ::)

You don't win a league scoring the most goals, you do know that?
That's right, you will league by having the most points. At the moment we also have that too at level 4.

I don't get why some of you are trying to pick holes in my Yeltz positivity? It's also fact that I am stating.

Stop fearing the worst and enjoy reality, its rather liberating you know
Positivity is good. I havent been going as long as some of the others, but longer than some. After 2 Cancelled seasons, one failure and preceeded by the years of austerity, I totally get the holding back on elation just yet.
At the end of the season, you may be able to say I told you so, but fingers being burned tends not to put your hand in the fire again. It doesnt mean anyone loves the club less, or wants the team to succeed less, as Im sure you know.

That’s a big call. Better than Tim Clarke, Alan Pemberton, Nick Bussey, Paul Evans, Phil Caldicott…
But I would say that it’s right.

I’d guess that if he was a few inches taller, he’d have gone on, quite considerably.
Add in the deserved (if still slightly odd) Club Captain role and the traditional keeper yampiness, and his status is pretty much nailed on.

Ooh, in the yampiness stakes he has serious rivals.

this may (or may not) be the point Andy et al are trying to make about beating the higher team in the last 3 seasons (difficult with the middle one as not many games!):-

2019-2020 (at the point it was finished March 11th 2020):-

1st Berkhamsted (h) DNP / (a) lost 0-1
3rd Corby Town (h) lost 1-2 / (a) drew 1-1
4th Welwyn Garden City (h) lost 0-2 / (a) DNP
5th Aylesbury United (h) won 4-1 / (a) DNP

2020-2021 (only played a total of 7 games so pretty inconclusive but I'll include the one match for completeness, we were 7th when it finished):-
Corby Town (a) lost 3-4

2021-2022:-
1st Ilkeston Town (h) lost 0-1 / (a) drew 2-2
2nd Stamford (h) won 3-2 / (a) drew 2-2
4th Chasetown (h) lost 0-2 / (a) won 4-1 and I'll add the play off loss of 0-1
5th Belper Town (h) won 2-1 / (a) drew 2-2

So the full record is:-
P15 W4 D4 L7 GF24 GA25

Proves nothing of course, had we beat Ilkeston at home and not lost last season, we'd have won the league, but if my aunt had have had balls she'd have been my uncle...........
Lies, lies and damn statistics :P ;D
Last season's record against the other top sides look decent enough to me. It was a couple of late equalisers in other games that were the killer. Mind you, every other team will have a similar story.

This season I guess the concern is we've probably not played that well but we're still top. Stamford have got a couple of tough looking away games coming up so there's plenty of cause for optimism.
