I really hope it boosts their confidence. It promises to be quite an atmosphere on Tuesday anyhow

If we'd had beaten Belper and Sutton, we'd have won the league on GD!

Oh well, plenty of ifs across the league, I guess.

Good performance, which hopefully boosts the players for the upcoming play off game.

Fantastic day yesterday, away days are always so much better when you win. Was a strange one leading up to it after the disappointment of last week blowing the title and I think a few eyebrows were raised with the team selection as well.

But overall we controlled the game from start to finish pretty much. Yes Daventry were a poor side but you can only beat what’s in front of you but even so a nice confidence booster and was more of a performance of the Halesowen from 2 years ago before Covid stopped us in our tracks. Seemed to have that swagger about us which has been missing for large parts this season.

I guess we can all look back and think ‘what if’ - the dropped points when leading games, not taking our chances which have proved costly. Losing silly games when on paper should have won easily. But what’s done is done. We weren’t good enough to win the league, but we’ve still got a fantastic chance of promotion through the playoffs which everyone knows are a lottery.

Will be a tough one Tuesday against Chasetown who for me have been one of the best sides I’ve seen this season but home advantage, and I guess a bit of a psychological advantage seeing as though they lost yesterday and our performance yesterday. You can’t ask for more than that.

Butttt. Theyve beaten us twice this season, albeit, the Trophy was an even game decided on penalties. The home game we'll forget about.

I just hope we have a fully fit squad/team and play as we can. If we lose, so be it, but at least we'll have had a go.

As a counterpoint to the lengthy potboiler from last week, this week’s report is in the form of haiku.

Bye to Daventry,
Good luck in the second set,
Their boss was a twat.

Exquisite torture,
Charlie’s Angels on Tuesday,
Can’t watch it sober.

A chance like this comes,
Around once in a decade.
Just don’t fuck it up.

And to answer Andy’s questions from yesterday -
  • Folkestone at home.
  • Jimmy Case when he was manager of Bashley.
  • Vitiligo.

Excellent that man! I thought it was Folkestone. Eventually.

Their boss was a twat.
Wasn't he just. I don't think I've ever seen such an outpouring of bile from a manager ever before. He must have a beef with our Club for some reason to come out with what he did. He was an embarrassment to them.

Was this when a new ball was needed fir us to take a corner and they threw it about 10 feet so Smithy ran on and kicked it down to which they started moaning he was on the pitch!!? (I think Ahmed then scored from that corner ??
