Half time 0-0. We've been a bit subdued and no real clear chances since the first 20 mins or. Platty has been superb.

In other news, I think Sporting Khalsa have a few spies here, there is a faint waft of manure from the Stourbr*dge Rd end and finally, the Stourbr*dge supporters bandwagon appears to be broken.

Good game. Im gonna guess Dourbrdige played a lot better than the other night cos I think they just about deserved the win. We played well but I couldnt see a goal coming. Not convinced with Ali in the back 4, but wasnt before either.....not that he didnt play well, cos he was quite capable. But hey ho. Off we go. So looking forward to the season now

New shirts are brill by the way

Stourbr*dge did play better today, and we were not as good. The formation doesn't seem to have worked as well in the home games, whereas away it has seemed o.k.

Brookes-Clark Charity Shield 2nd Leg – Saturday, 7th August 2021

Halesowen Town 0 Stourbr*dge 1 (Halesowen won 3-2 on aggregate)

Halesowen lifted the inaugural Brookes-Clark Charity Shield, winning 3-2 on aggregate despite local neighbours Stourbr*dge winning narrowly on the day, writes David Johnson.

The pace of both McKauley Manning and Jack Holmes caused all sorts of early problems for the Glassboys as a Holmes shot earned a 3rd minute corner and a low shot by Ash Sammons was beaten away by visiting goalkeeper Charlie Price for another corner just a minute later. Manning then exchanged neat passes with Holmes again in the 7th minute before stroking his final shot against the post.

Stourbr*dge missed out when a 10th minute penalty from former Yeltz striker Montel Gibson was saved by the legs of home goalkeeper Dan Platt after Ahmed Ali brought down Jason Cowley.

Chris Lait made a surging 26th minute run but was finally brought down by Lee Vaughan, although Holmes could only strike the 25 yard free-kick at Stourbr*dge’s defensive wall. Sammons then shot wide two minutes later before Vaughan received a yellow card for his foul of frustration on Manning.

The Glassboys remained unable to break down Halesowen during the remainder of the first half as Cowley struck wide after 32 minutes and then hit a 30 yard shot straight at Platt two minutes later. Just before the interval, Platt did well to save from Greg Mills in a one-on-one and also kept out Vaughan’s 25 yard free-kick.

After the interval a 53rd minute wide-angled shot from Holmes was collected by Price and Holmes made a further good run down the right three minutes later.

The Glassboys played with much more urgency in the second half and took a 59th minute lead when Vaughan crossed from the right for GIBSON to smash home with a low volley. But the Yeltz resisted further pressure as Cowley headed a 64th minute corner wide and a 66th minute shot from Mills was beaten away by Platt at his post.

Late on, Price saved a low shot in the 75th minute following good work from substitute Kyle Finn and Holmes was denied by Price again after skipping down the right with two minutes remaining.

Halesowen Town: Dan Platt; Jamie Ashmore, Brett Lloyd, Ash Sammons, Paul McCone (c), Ahmed Ali, Jack Holmes, Jac Redhead, Harry White, McKauley Manning, Chris Lait. Substitutes: Lewis Wright, Calum Flanagan, Toby Scott, Robbie Bunn, Kyle Finn, Jamie Molyneux, Richard Gregory, Dan Whitehouse (GK).

Stourbr*dge: Charlie Price; Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, Lee Vaughan, James McQuilkin, Liam Daly (c), Kieran Morris, Darragh Bustin, Melis Bushaj, Jason Cowley, Montel Gibson, Greg Mills. Substitutes: Max Harris (GK), Harvey Portman, Reece King, Darryl Knights, Miracle Okafor, Daniel Gyasi, Ethan Moran, Josh Marsden.
