Apologies for randomness of updates, struggled with the forum for most of the afternoon. Can still only update via the app.

So, to the game. Started well, created a few decent chances but could not finish. They on the other hand finished clinically, twice. Once we went 3 down we did nothing until the last 10 minutes, and after scoring could and should of had more. We could have scored 2 in injury time alone and taken an unlikely point. As it stands though nothing changes for me, we are unlikely to beat anybody but it matters not as Sutton have to win 3 just to catch us and that's unlikely as well. An utterly depressing season is as good as over already.

Really poor performance, the management only seem capable of bringing in players from a lower level that aren’t good enough. Sad from such a good club

Halesowen Town 1 Grantham Town 3

Second placed Grantham proved too strong for Halesowen with their leading striker Lee Shaw playing a part in all three goals.

In a low key start, Grantham’s Tom Batchelor failed to connect properly with a 17th minute free header and home goalkeeper Dan Platt cut out a dangerous right-wing cross from Danny Meadows two minutes later.

Ivor Lawton and Bradley Lewis were missing through suspension but it was new home signing Kevin Monteiro who looked lively on an impressive home debut and he set up Khaellem Bailey-Nicholls, only for Oliver Luto to make a vital 20th minute penalty area block. Monteiro showed further good control when his low 22nd minute shot was well saved by goalkeeper Kieran Preston. But the Yeltz escaped in the 25th minute when Jordan Hempenstall’s low cross was grabbed at the second attempt by Platt. A great 27th minute move saw Monteiro exchange passes with Matthew Barnes-Homer, but Barnes-Homer’s shot was blocked again as Grantham continued to defend solidly.

The Gingerbreads took control with two goals within seven minutes late in the second half. The opening goal arrived in the 30th minute when Shaw’s shot was only parried by Platt, allowing Curtis BURROWS to head the rebound into an empty net. Jordan Goddard hit a fierce shot past the post in the 34th minute before the Gingerbreads doubled their lead in the 37th minute on a smart breakaway directly from a Yeltz attack. Goddard’s free-kick was cleared and Hempenstall turned the ball onwards for SHAW to advance and confidently fire his 27th goal of the season past Platt. Before the interval a good cross from Halesowen’s Bailey-Nicholls was cut out and Meadows headed wide from Shaw’s cross for Grantham.

With Grantham’s hard work already done, there were few chances early in the second period, although Batchelor headed a Burrows corner straight at Platt in the 61st minute. Shaw then turned provider for Andrew WRIGHT to skip Exodus Geohaghon’s challenge before hitting home from a tight angle from the right to make it 3-0 to the Gingerbreads in the 64th minute.

Home substitute Roland Agbor set up Bailey-Nicholls to blast wide in the 71st minute. AGBOR then picked his spot to beat Preston and pull a consolation goal back for Halesowen with a delicate 81st minute chip from the edge of the area, despite the attention of several Grantham defenders. With the Yeltz finishing the game well, Jack Kelly fired just over the bar from the left in the 84th minute. Preston then back-pedalled to save a seemingly certain injury time goal from substitute Yasin Al-Massry after some defensive confusion and Preston then made another great save to deny Agbor in the fourth minute of added time.

Halesowen Town: Dan Platt; Enock Ekongo, Asa Charlton (Roland Agbor 46), Jordan Goddard, Exodus Geohaghon, Kyle Morrison (c), Khaellem Bailey-Nicholls (Yasin Al-Massry 73), Marcus Poscha, Matthew Barnes-Homer, Kevin Da Veiga Monteiro, Jack Kelly. Got to say as A Grantham supporter what a great video of the match. Unbiased commentary and good replays. Quickly put on YouTube. Hope you come to Grantham and film the return match. Well done
