Good to finish with a win.
Having beaten our points total from last season I consider the overall picture is positive.
Well done to all the players and management team.

A pleasing way to end the season with a win away at Hyde. It's a shame to see Hyde go, a really nice tidy ground, lots of decent pubs in the town and the locals all friendly. Hopefully we'll see them turn their relegation slide into a promotion ride next year.

The game itself, we did most of the pressing and had the chances to win by more than the goal we did with Tyree having a shot blocked and Kaiman missing the target when he shot over all in the first half. A great save by the young lad King in the first half too where he came out and blocked a shot after a neat bit of play from the home left back.

In the second half we again created most of the chances, Kaiman got bundled over for what should have been a penalty and their keeper (who looked like Chesney from Coronation Street) made a couple of decent saves from Melvin and Kaiman. We could have extended the lead but Maradona stretched to head wide when had he have heard the call off Melvin he would surely have tapped in the net.

A great touch at the end by the players coming over to shake our hands to thank us for our support, Bragoli and Denny even giving their boots away. On social media after the game it was great to read of how the players have enjoyed their season with us, loan players such as Forsyth and in particular the young lad King thanking all for their involvement with the Yeltz.

So, season over and despite a few blips I think progress has been made. Much optimism at the start with players like Charles, Pearson, Darkin and McGee on board to name but four, but none of them really hit the level we thought they would despite their excellent pedigree and footballing CV's Youngsters like Cooper and Collins didn't really settle too and then when you add injuries to the likes of Platty I think the rebuilding of the team during the season and to finish where we did is credit to JH and his coaching team. We do seem to have a real spirit now, the players went off on their end of season night out to Dublin last night and all being well John will keep the majority of them to keep some stability.

We cannot have a repeat of the chaos of last closed season, we have 7 or 8 key players who are more than good enough at this level and if we lose most of them then we really are back to square one. If we hadn't landed loan players who all gave 100% for the Yeltz (full credit to the management for getting the right players) I think we have to be honest and say the Hyde match could have been a relegation decider, and the crowds we lost in the first 4 months when, although we were getting some good results, we were playing some desperately dull football, would not have come back.
