Missed last years number 9 derby through illness. Today though the atmosphere was electric . Following a pedestrian first half we took the game by the scruff of its neck and the lads played their hearts out. The singing in the shed was magnificant and banter was second to none. Highest gate I've seen at the Grove in my 15 years and, apart from one silly incident , was peaceful and jolly.

Well done to players and management.

Just watched the penalty back, hilarious.
Also well done to the referee today, another ref may have lost control at times and it could have finished 8 a side.

Really well organised today.

They had more of the play and missed some chances, but the midfield 3 of Denny, Brags and Melvin, who aren't the most creative, really protected the defence and worked very hard.

Sweeney was always a threat up front and it was a good job he had to come on.

The game management was very good today.

Well done!

2107!! What a great turn out from both sets of fans. Great atmosphere in the right spirit (apart from a minority of tossers in the away end at one point) and hopefully many fans watching at this level for the first time will return. I remember the previous highest league crowd against Worcester in 1990 (Paul Joinsons return to the Grove att2507) very well and this was just like turning the clock back. Magnificent.

Nice touch at the end of the match. Every player went across to the Directors enclosure to honour/respect/acknowledge Colin Brookes. Great action.

Well done to the mighty Yeltz! So proud of the team today and particularly John, Matt and Kev who continue to grind out performances against the odds.

Incredible crowd too. Second highest EVER at The Grove- did I get that right? Absolutely phenomenal and goes to show that the club retains so much potential.

"Mug of the Day" surely goes to Joe Hull. I'm gutted for him. Sat on the bench all game. He could have LED our team today. Say no more.

In the league, yes.
We can claim that it's the highest ever 3pm k.o. league match in our 143 year history...

Attendance records here - http://www.yeltzarchives.com/history/al ... cords.html
There might have been some higher league gates back in the '40s-60s but we don't have the records to back it up. Strange that the Hendon FAC R1 from '55-'56 is also missing. We always claim 5000 for this match, maybe we don't have the official paperwork?

Madeira Lane Lamper might have some thoughts on it upon his return from the sunshine (Happy Birthday Chas btw).

We've definitely had higher cup crowds than the Worcester league crowd (Tranmere springs to mind straight away) but today is as far as I can remember the second highest league crowd. Well done EVERYBODY.
