Sounds like we played ok given the changes we made to the team against a strong Darlington side. Wouldn't have expected too much before the game anyway.

Hopefully it doesn't affect the lads confidence ahead of the big one on Monday!

Good in one respect this is but hope it doesn't deter from the fantastic work and effort the Yeltz TV lads put in with their videos.

Refrain from poking him until after Monday though....

Another long day. Having seen their recent form getting anything from Darlington would have been a bonus, and of course the worry when seeing the team was that we'd possibly take a confidence sapping heavy defeat. It wasn't to be and although we never really looked like winning the game we were perhaps a little unfortunate to not get something out of the game.

We held firm in the first half with Kyle Morrison outstanding throughout at centre half alongside Asa. Mike Turner upfront although not the most mobile certainly gave them plenty to worry about. Those of you at The Grove will remember Darlington as being a big strong team but Turner really unsettled him. Their captain Burgess ended up with a badly cut head, the other centre half went off injured and he worried the life out the right back to score the goal. It was imperative that we didn't concede in the first 25 minutes and they spent probably a ten minute spell with 10 men during the first 25 minutes with Burgess' head injury. Just to clarify Turner wasn't particularly dirty or overly aggressive, he just didn't allow them to settle. An example of this was on the half hour. The referee gave us a free kick on the edge of the area when Burgess was adjudged to have fouled Turner as Turner rolled him when he got too tight. In giving that free kick when through on goal in my opinion he was very, very lucky not to have been shown red.

The equaliser from the penalty I believe was harsh from speaking to the players after the game, I couldn't really tell from where we were and the winning goal from the scramble was one of those things that can go for or against you, there were comments made about it being handball but I couldn't really see through the crowd of players.

The two new lads Maradona and Male looked very decent indeed and despite resting Denny, Anderson, Melvin and Bragoli we still looked organised and resilient.

So, on to Monday... we look strong, resilient, quick, well organised and confidence is high. We also have nothing to lose really, the worry is, they have more than pride to play for. With a showing like we did today, at Blyth and the away game at Ilkeston there is no reason why we can't upset their party with a win.

Some interesting views from their forum which don't differ too much from RobYeltz's view especially given that it's a home versus away perspective.

The better organisation is certainly noted and will be needed tomorrow against a team for whom a win is a must.
