Re: Buxton Updates
Just got back and I have to say that I don't think we could have done any more to win the game than we did. The first half we rode their good start and after the first ten minutes dominated them. We had a succession of corners and their keeper made a good save from Griff and both Morrison and Lewis were unlucky not to score with. They scored with their first attempt at goal. Sweeney's goal had an element of luck as the keeper fumbled it, but to be in at half time only drawing wasn't a fair reflection of the game.
Despite being on top at half time John Hill took off Griff and George Forsyth for Malcolm Melvin and debutante Tyree Clarke. Clarke and Anderson linked up early on and they used Sweeney well as the three of them interchanged positions. Whilst the home side undoubtedly had more chances in the second half I thought it was brave of John to change our shape at half time and make the game more expansive in an attempt to push harder to win the game. For those who saw us at Nantwich and saw us today the difference was poles apart. We played some good football, created chances and came close to winning the game in the end.
Without being disrespectful to the players on the pitch at times we do look like a young team, with endevour and enthusiasm. We have our two old heads in Asa and Jay, and experienced players at this level like Griff and Brags, we are desperately missing a couple more players who know their way around the NPL and have say 100-150 games at this level, but as we all know we can't afford them.
Yes lack of wins is concerning, but today was a BIG improvement.

Re: Buxton Updates
Really disappointed not to make to today, especially as I wanted to grab a couple of climbing routes at the Roaches or Ramshaw Rocks on the way past. Last week the two teams were evenly matched so a point is probably about right, but reading Robs report its good to see that things were much improved generally from two weeks ago

Not like you to be wrong Noggin, but surely it's only 6 games since we beat Marine?
If Lutley meant 'games' without a win.

Guilty as charged. I meant one win in 13.
I think our worst runs in recent history were 1 win in 16 (2011) and at the end of last season (could be slightly out on those)
