As friendlies go I thought it was a decent game, most pleasing I thought was our second half performance, the introduction of Turner up front with Kaiman playing behind caused them some problems. Admittedly I think their side weakened with the substitutions but nonetheless I thought we did well. You can see the difference Lee Hughes made for them, he was quick and strong and had that bit of quality, but fair play to Asa and Morrison who kept him quiet enough to not cause any major problems.
We tried to play out from the back which was pleasing to see and we moved the ball around well. I thought Summerfield did well in the second half as did the new bloke who came on and played wide left. (I'm assuming this was Nathan Edimo) He was big and strong for a wide man and wasn't frightened to get stuck in and track back either. No sign of JMG or Forsyth this evening but it was also nice to see Platty back in goal too. Overall a pleasing work out in front of the hardy 100 or so folk who braved the cold night.

I think there were a few positive things to take from tonight's game, namely:

*First trip down The Grove since Christmas, so a good chance to catch up with some folk I haven't seen for a while.

*First trip to The Yeltz Bar in pretty much an age, thanks to meeting Keasey on the No.9 bus from Colley Gate!

As for the game....not a great performance by us the first half, improved a bit in the second half, but you could tell they were a step above us in terms of their movement and fitness. However a good workout for the lads I felt and a good opportunity to play against a decent class of opposition.

Hopefully Saturday's game will be on so look forward to a trip to Nantwich!

Up the Yeltz!
