what is it they say, `it`s hard to play against 10 men, they just go defensive!` on the plus side it looks like there is such a good team
spirit that 1 player gets sent off and the rest go off as well !

I'm now on my 3rd pint since getting home 40 mInutes ago and it's not numbing the shock of what I saw today. The thing is it could have been worse as Evans pulled of a truly world class save just before they got the 5th. Truly the worst capitulation I have seen in my 31 years of wTchimg the club!

ask any team, you start the match with 10 men, but 4 - nil up, and they would probably take it, surely they`d see through a win ? (even better if its only
for half an hour)

Gutted no. Disappointed yes.

We were the better team with 11 v 11 hence the 4 nil.
Wimb i thought were the physical of the two sides (a.k.a 7 & 6 for them).

Ref starts the match with talking a lot after fouls no bookings.

Bruce soft foul no talking 1st booking.

Had chat with there keeper before 2nd half kick off lots of kids the reason for their poor start to season (2 nil down).

2 more goals and looked like we would be on for even more.

Bruce fouled 2nd yellow (deserved yellow this time) off! TURNING POINT OF GAME

Our tatics wrong.
We do not shut up shop. No substitutions (until too late). Naveed and Justin both still playing up front whilst midfield and defence under cosh.

Evans pulled off some good saves to keep it to 5.

Not sure where ref got 4 mins added time from.

Positives - Mcgrath and other goals.
Do not want Nathan Jackson back we are better without him.

Heads up lads and onto the next match.

I've found some amazing instances of teams coming back from 4 down to draw, and from 3 behind to win, but only 3 games where teams were 4 down and still won.
1957. Charlton 7-6 Huddersfield. Town led 1-5 with 30 minutes left against TEN man Athletic, but still blew it.
1986 Bayer Uerdingen 7-5 Dynamo Dresden (agg). Dynamo were 5-1 up at one point in the second leg but unfancied Bayer scored SIX to win.
1976 Bochum 5-6 Bayern Munich. After 53 minutes Bochum were 4-0 up, and they blew it as well.

Interesting that all 3 of the teams that came back from 4 down scored a further 6 goals.

I was also in attendance at an amazing comeback at St Andrews in i think 1994. Blues led Swindon 4-1 at half time, but inspired by Glenn Hoddle Town ran out 6-4 winners.
Any others anyone?

In March 1960, when both sides were in Div 2, Villa were 4 down to Liverpool at Half-time and drew 4-4 and in 1966 were 1-5 at White Hart Lane and drew 5-5.

We also threw away a 4-1 lead in the final 9 minutes to draw 4-4 at home against Swindon S'marine in April 2008.....

Gutted Yes Disappointed Yes

We were absolutely cruising at 4-0 in complete control, McGrath’s second free kick was top draw. Wimborne looked average at best. Then I just cant put my finger on what happened when Bruce got sent off you would expect a team with 10 men away from home to shut up shop, go to a more defensive formation, be tough to break down and see the game out etc but that certainly wasn’t the case on Sat. Don't get me wrong I could understand us conceding a few goals but FIVE goals in half an hour!“Smudge” and his defence just lost it and there was no protection in front of them. I think Folkes should have been brought on a lot lot sooner as he’s a more defensive player and sacrificed one of our forward players. I hope we have learnt from this game. Anyone know what’s happened to Lescott?? We could have done with his experience on Sat. Moan over!
