Halesowen Town 0 Stourbr*dge 2

Stourbr*dge settled the game with two late second half strikes inflicting Halesowen’s first pre-season defeat in a keenly contested local derby.

In the opening minute Yeltz goalkeeper Paul Evans denied Sam Rock and then blocked Ryan Rowe after seven minutes with Stourbr*dge preparing to start a new season at a higher level than Halesowen for the first time in over twenty years.

Lee Chilton tested Stourbr*dge goalkeeper Lewis Solly in the 15th minute and Solly kept out Chilton’s bobbling effort from 20 yards in the 36th minute. Nathan Jackson then drove just wide of the Stourbr*dge upright in the 37th minute in an even first half.

Before the break, Evans stretched to grab a free-kick from Sean Geddes and then did well to beat the ball away after Rowe evaded several challenges to skip through the heart of the home defence in the 42nd minute.

After the interval Stourbr*dge skipper Ben Billingham set up substitute Josh Craddock to screw just wide and a further Billingham effort dipped over the bar. Substitute David PLINSTON had the simple task of touching the ball home at the far post to give the visitors the lead in the 69th minute following Craddock’s shot across goal.

In the 75th minute Jackson lifted the ball over the Stourbr*dge bar before GEDDES - a new signing from Walsall - hit a 30-yard screamer into the top corner to double the Glassboys’ lead after 76 minutes.

There were a few there on Saturday who hopefully will not come again.

However, on Saturdays with new ownership crowds should be min 300 maybe over 400 when we get off to a good winning start.

Oh, them again. As changes said, this is pathetic. Still, seeing as most of the opposition we'll face this season are unlikely to bringing any great 'posse' with them, hopefully they won't both much (or preferrably, at all).

Edit: Just thinking, would the Stourport games be a possible source of trouble?
