Expelled

Post by KenR » 11 Jun 2011, 17:56

Rushden & Diamonds expelled from Conference League for financial irregularities. Now surely there is an opening for three gentlemen, known to us, who are currently without a club, and I believe, are local to that area.

Apparently they will be looking to join the Southern league, as long as they are not wound up.

Speculation I know however, but Conference have already announced reprives at Step 1 & 2 for Southport &  Thurrock. This would have a knock on to step 3 requiring another reprieve, the club with the best record being Hucknall and then at step 4 with the best placed there being Horsham YMCA.

Relevance to Halesowen well.

Hucknall were due to take their place in Northern Prem Div 1 South, leaving that league one short which with the best will in the world a club based in Horsham could not fill. Hence a club will be required to move to NPDiv1S, any thoughts on interested clubs ?

Looks like Rushden won't get Southern Prem after all, since the following has now been agreed.

Southport reprieved from relegation to Step 2 and returned to Step 1.
Bishops Stortford moved from Conference South to Conference North (pending any possible Appeal)
Thurrock reprieved from relegation to Step 3 and returned to Step 2 in Conference South.
Aveley reprieved from relegation to Step 4 and returned to Step 3 in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
Shepshed Dynamo reprieved from relegation to Step 5 and returned to Step 4 in the Northern Premier League Div 1 South.
Bedworth United transferred from Northern Premier League Div 1 South to Southern League Div 1 Central.
Soham Town Rangers FC transferred from Southern League Div 1 Central to Isthmian League Div 1 North.

This currently would indicate no room for R&D above Step 5.

From Southern League Site

Subject to the eventual outcome of outstanding issues and the club's ability to meet strict conditions laid down by the Board of Directors, Rushden & Diamonds may still line up as an additional club in the Southern League Premier Division

Agreed, they are saying there may be 23 teams in the league. When is the southern league AGM?
