John Russell RIP

It is with deep sadness that I bring the news of the passing yesterday of John Russell. A HTFC fan for 70 years, he regularly followed the team home and away..
A club sponsor (including player of the match and match sponsorship) and benefactor, he was also vice-chairman during the not too long ago turbulent period when he helped to steer the club through to survive. He was on the committee of the Supporters Trust.
From Ronnie Dugmore, through Mel Adams, the Wembley Vase players, Ben Haseley to Kieran Donnelly, a major part of John's life was supporting Halesowen Town Football Club in any way that he could.
My condolences go to his wife Wendy, brothers David and Kenneth, sons Mark and Ian and their families and friends.
May you rest in peace, John.

John was one of the key players at the foundation of the Yeltz Trust when the club was at its lowest ebb.
He was a wise member of the board and was a great help to me personally as Chair and more importantly to the organisation and the football club.
I suspect this is only a tiny, tiny percentage of his important involvement over many decades.
My thoughts and gratitude go out to his family and friends.
RIP JR, a great Yeltzman.
