Steve Spitfire Player of the Season

Post by Johnny Bud » 17 Apr 2023, 20:16

Hello all,

Dave Hawley has kindly asked us to conduct the vote on the forum for the Steve Spitfire Player of the Season award.

Steve was a very keen follower of the Yeltz who sadly passed away a number of years ago - he is fondly remembered by many of our fans and it is a fantastic tribute to him! Dave has told me that the award will be presented at the awards do / night when it is arranged.

I have listed most of the players below but could only put so many so may have missed some out! Sorry to anyone I have… (If I have missed anyone obvious let me know!!!)

Who voted for Rich Smith? :o

Ezewele, for me. There hasn't been a standout player which is a sad indictment of the disappointing season we're having.

I most definitely get Ezewele, but without Platt we wouldn't even be in the play offs.

Surely that makes Ezewele the stand out player then? ??? ;)

Entirely. That the goalkeeper is contender for player of the season for a team chasing promotion is in itself a matter of some concern

Fook me, you must have been suicidal when we were relegated a few years back. Finishing 2nd ain't a bad season, and just because we've the biggest crowds it doesnt guarantee us anything.

Try and enjoy the final 😉

I tried to enjoy the semi.

Mind you, so did the missus.

Nathan Hayward has been Snapper-esque for the last few games but Platty has been consistently excellent.
His save from the header on Saturday was unreal and the fact that it drew few mentions is indicative of the fact that it’s what we’ve come to expect.
As good as we’ve had in a long time.
