Unfortunately, with a very few exceptions, local newspapers are dead.
No budget, so no journalists and largely, no future.
It seems that one lady writes the entire Halesowen News now, and she either doesn’t have the time to do the sport or doesn’t see the value in it.

I didn't know we were playing Evesham Utd on 6th August. According to the link you sent when you click on it for Evesham's fixtures it shows we are playing them away. Must be a mistake unless we have them in the FA Cup preliminary round

I presume it’s a provisional fixture if neither of us is in the extra prelim round of the FACup., and we have chosen not to publicise it until confirmed, which I understand may be next Friday (8th) when the cup draws are made.

We're making some slow progress at last with the Halesowen News. There's still no back page of sport, but they're now re-employing Nick Pullen part-time. Nick's reporting days with the Yeltz go way back to Wembley in the 80s before moving to the Sports Argus and the E&S as well as being a former sports editor at the Halesowen News.

With no sports page, Nick will simply get around this by using the news pages for stories/updates on the Yeltz. We thought a good first story would focus on season ticket sales as well as publicising the forthcoming friendlies. This first in-print story should be in next week's paper but the on-line version is already here:

Currently the most read story on the site, although looking at the other headlines in the chart it didn’t have much to beat!

Quite predictably, the lightweight Halesowen News have now already ended this new arrangement for "cost-cutting" reasons. So it's back to no coverage with just the occasional on-line match report & odd photo from Steve - that's if and when anyone there can be bothered.
