Probably the worst I've seen yet. In The Netherlands. Heerenveen finished 42 points behind the champions Ajax and just 8 points above automatic relegation. They then qualified for the playoffs for a European place! Thankfully they failed.

....and in the Eerste Divisie (second division) De Graafschap were in the promotion playoffs after finishing NINTH. It's all just becoming a money spinning joke.

Have a look at after match events at the French play-off which was on BT yesterday 😬

Oh, and by the way, except for the fans of the losers they can be the height of thrilling football drama and entertainment .I invariably enjoy them.

Yeah I'd seen it. And scenes like that are becoming more commonplace on the continent lately. And on occasions here too, especially in the play offs!
Den Haag v Excelsior play off yesterday also.

And 6th placed Grimsby. Glad they won though, still can't take Solihull Moors Borough Green seriously.

Bit like the Rushden/Irthlingborough Diamonds scenario. Clubs merge, loads of dosh, climb the leagues, crash and burn.

I always learn things on here.

Yeah. Neither of the two clubs were great movers or shakers nor were Moor Green/Solihull as they were.

joking aye yer Drummy. Rushden had a few years in the football league and pushed for promotion to div. one. It all went pear shaped when Doc Martens, Max Griggs, pulled out. He used to donate 10pence for every pair of boots sold and as it was a worldwide concern, it amounted to a tidy penny. Unfortunately with the big and well paid playing staff, it left them in serious trouble and went bankrupt and out of business .
