So near and yet so far

Post by piearce9 » 29 Apr 2022, 10:02

Imagine being top for so long and then falling to pieces when it really mattered.

Yes, that's my Fantasy Island season.

Never had I been in the mix for so long, and I thought this finally my year.

Congrats to drummyb who clearly had the right approach in the final stages of the season and leapfrogged the long-term leaders.

And can I say thanks to Poll for this as well. A great little side distraction and one of the many longstanding Yeltz traditions.

I believe the phrase is "we go again next season"

Cheers fella. Aint often I win anything but I appeared to come good at the end in my first appearance. Its downhill from here though.

Which is pretty much my life story/motto

Yes well done. I surprised myself by winning it a few years ago but it's a hard title to defend!

I've just added DrummyB to the roll of winners at https://fantasyisland.yeltz.co.uk/about.php where you can the illustrious list of former champions.

I also realised next year will be the 25th season(!) so I expect street parties all over the country, especially in Withernsea (see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3692 for why)

Withernsea was the only place we could find halfway between the Midlands in the North East that would take my sister's 3 dogs for a bank holiday break a few years back.

Very much Hastings vibes e.g. an ex-holiday resort that's seem much better days, only one half-decent pub, so definitely NOT recommended for a visit (except to pay homage at the Fantasy Island arcade of course)
