There used to be a Twatter account under the name Vanessa Yeltz. This isn't the same person, is it? ;)

That’s not difficult- I can see that there’s even talk about actual football matches on here !

Here's a graph showing average attendances for home games since 1978. Orange is league games only, blue is all competitions. As you'll see, the average attendance this year is higher than it has been since the early 1990s! Click to enlarge.

It'll be interesting (for a saddo like me) to see how this graph would compare to similar graphs detailing Albion league positions and another showing the state of the economy.

I don't think it takes a genius to work out that our attendances benefit when Albion are poorer than normal, and there's a recession. Or at least, it feel that way.

To be honest Josh it's far simpler than that. It tallies with the standard of football.
Start of the eighties it was Halesowen who?
Early to mid eighties were the vase years so the crowds went up dramatically but we were still in a poor league so not THAT much.
Late eighties, early nineties, rising through the league's with good sides.
Mid nineties, fantastic side at the top of the second level of non league football.
Late nineties early 2000s the side never kicked on and it became a bit of a yo-yo side.
Later 00s M**s*n actually gave us a bit to cheer about even though it was all under false pretences so crowds again rose a little.
Then the very bad times. Speaks for itself.
A small increase under John Hill as we came out of that but nothing good enough to bring in big numbers.
COVID killed off the big crowds for Smith's sides and now everybody wants some of the action. Long may it continue.
If you look back at the graph it tallies perfectly.
