Gosh, just reading back my last post you realise just how much shit we went through since we were last a stable club. Probably 10 years! Thank you so much Karen and Keith.😁

What needs to be considered when comparing the 90’s crowds to this seasons figures is that we were playing 2 levels higher and against ‘bigger teams’ who attracted much larger away followings. In truth the home support is probably very similar if not higher now, it certainly feels that way to me.
Thanks for coming!

To be honest Josh it's far simpler than that. It tallies with the standard of football.
Start of the eighties it was Halesowen who?
Early to mid eighties were the vase years so the crowds went up dramatically but we were still in a poor league so not THAT much.
Late eighties, early nineties, rising through the league's with good sides.
Mid nineties, fantastic side at the top of the second level of non league football.
Late nineties early 2000s the side never kicked on and it became a bit of a yo-yo side.
Later 00s M**s*n actually gave us a bit to cheer about even though it was all under false pretences so crowds again rose a little.
Then the very bad times. Speaks for itself.
A small increase under John Hill as we came out of that but nothing good enough to bring in big numbers.
COVID killed off the big crowds for Smith's sides and now everybody wants some of the action. Long may it continue.
If you look back at the graph it tallies perfectly.
There's no place for common sense on this forum.

Yes, this is a good summary equating crowds to performance. There is no real correlation between league sides like Villa or Albion doing badly and then Halesowen crowds going up as a result. If we are doing well, then more fans come down and also more regular casual fans from Villa and Albion attend when their team is away or playing on different days.

In this special edition of the Yeltz History newsletter, I've taken a deep-dive into Halesowen's attendances this season and put them into their historical context. Please give it a read and, if you haven't already, subscribe:
