When I met my wife she had huge gloves. I thought to myself, "She's a keeper."

Great to see Platty make 200 on Saturday, somewhat of a shame that it didn't coincide with a clean sheet.
He's a great player and seems a livewire to have around too.

But imo not the best. On Facebook, Chas has linked to this excellent article from the historian at Worcester City.

I don't remember Danny playing for STFC, maybe they're wrong or maybe I've expunged it from my mind.

We've had madder (Bussey), fatter (Kevan Williams), more successful in terms of teams played for (Tim Clarke) and probably more legendary (Phil Caldicott) but none better that I've seen.

I came here hoping for a thread of one liners.

I leave disappointed.

Spot on Doc. When we choose our favourite Town players we look for the the great 'footballer', so goalkeepers can get overlooked. We too have had more than our fair share of good keepers, and Platt is as good, if not better than any. Except one. Danny was a legend. I've not seen better outside the league. Quality. My favourite Town player of all time? Possibly so.

Some more worth a mention:
Mark Hart , battled for the no1 shirt with Danny in the promotion race with Rushden, until that fateful last game of the season at Newport
Mark Osborn from the MM era
Alan Pemberton our other Wembley keeper

You're absolutely right Chas. We have been very lucky keeperwise over the years. Now can you remind me who was the stand in keeper for the Tranmere game who then came to ref us?

Ian Scarr, his partner was our Physio and his son has been round a few clubs inc. Saddlers. I think he's currently at Plymouth

Danny was also a good cricketer, keeping wicket for Lye etc. I guess his two roles complement each other

Logged back in, and it's still a football thread.

Still disappointed.
