Guess The Yeltzman

Post by YeltzDoc » 09 Sep 2021, 00:27

Currently reading Jon Purdie’s autobiography, available here - https://jonpurdie.co.uk/ - and, whilst the Booker Prize committee aren’t on the phone, it’s a good read, very honestly written, and has a lot of references to former Yeltzmen plus loads of other footballing and cultural references that anyone with a passing interest in ‘90s Midlands football will remember fondly.

Anyhoo, about a dozen or more of our old boys get a shout-out but I couldn’t help noticing that this was undoubtedly another former player of ours, and a quick Google confirms that indeed he was there at about that time.

No names, no pack drill obvs….

😂I could never understand the strange smell in the loo on the team coach in those days, and why I always came out feeling light headed😂there was also the time when we lost him at Dorchester after the game. Coach was way past the agreed leaving time and we all went in search of him. Eventually we found him outside the local supermarket sitting on the kerb as high as a kite 😂

I’m pretty certain he had a spell at Telford but fell out of favour and was loaned out before a transfer to Gloucester ? Chippenham? … somewhere down that way

Just mailed Jon Purdie and he replied that we Yeltz fans have a good knowledge of local non-league characters....
