Diamond Days

Post by DJ » 04 May 2021, 13:31

25 years ago on May 4th 1996 the final games of the season decided the winners of the Beazer Homes League Premier Division title. Despite eventually being pipped to the post by big-spending Rushden and Diamonds, Halesowen Town’s runners-up spot was still their highest ever in the non-league pyramid. Here’s my look back at the 1995/96 campaign and an epic win at Rushden’s Nene Park to set up the grand finale to a season of Diamond Days:

I really enjoyed reading this. Highly recommended, even if you aren't old enough to remember it!

There's also a link to video highlights of our epic win at Rushden in there. I couldn't remember seeing them before, but even if I had was well worth watching again. Was in colour too ;D

Wonderful from DJ. I can remember associated shenanigans from most of those matches.

And, a great, "Name The Crowd" pic as well.

I think that I can do 4.

Maybe 5.

I'd have been down the front by the as-yet-unnamed "gentleman" with "HTFC" on the back of his pate, but perhaps fortuitously, I'm must be just out of shot.

Bottom right of the photo looks like Grant with sunglasses on, Henry Boot may be next to him, but he never had that much hair. I'm more concerned I know a lot of these people by the back of their yeds......... :o

Easy!

This should be enough to stop Andy, HH, Poll, Frank and a few others doing any work this afternoon.

I'd include Westy, but as he works for the council, it won't make any difference.

Yes, the numbering is a little haphazard.

33 - Andy Pratt
38 - Chemo
39 - Henry or possibly Nasty Derek
41 - Could be a small boy but I think it's Ali Cummings / Price
42 - A real stretch, but probably Telecom Dave
