Yeltz Lockdown XI

Post by BBNOW100 » 17 Jan 2021, 15:45

In the coming couple of weeks, the club will be running a 'Yeltz Lockdown XI' where fans are being asked to vote for their favourite players to create an all-time team. While I'm sure some will be disappointed that their favourite player is not on the shortlist, we have tried our best to include a variety of players from all different eras.

All the details can be found on the club website at the link below, and the voting will take place on Twitter starting tomorrow at 7pm:

P.S., a very big shoutout to Ron Moseley who spent hours digging out information, calling people up, and helping us craft our shortlist! We couldn't have done it without him.

Great idea.
Just read the rules. The FA ( or any of the other jokers) would suffer a meltdown if they had to implement that!
Sadly im not on twitter. :(
Surprised not to see Platt or Bussey on the keeper list. Though it's irrelevant as it's probably the only position that's a no-brainer. Just stick Danny's name in and move to the full backs. ;D

I am also surprised not to see Bussey on this list! Wasn’t the longest serving player but definitely one of the best / craziest I have seen! He would have been an entertaining squad player, as back up to Danny who I agree, will surely win.

It’s a great thing to do to let us while away the idle hours of lockdown, and some fun to be had amongst the older heads with the great players of the ‘60s included.
However, there’s some howlers in where certain players have been included.

Eric Smith and Phil Wood as full backs? The Grey Squirrel is probably having a conniption.
Crispy was a midfielder as well really.
Andy Bradley as centre mid? He did play in pretty much every position but I’d say full back predominantly.
Dean Brennon (sic) as a winger and Lee as a centre forward?

Meant as pedantry rather than criticism, as I’ll definitely vote and pay close attention, but a few clangers nevertheless.

At least God has been rightly included. That’s saved me going full-on gammon about it.

Disgruntled of HG1.

Are we voting in this then people? I see it's the central midfielders tonight.

First tie - Kevan Williams v Mal Cobley

How about a double Kevan Williams, and Mike Pence for next USA president ;)

I shall activate the Yampo Signal to summon Westy for his Kevan Williams anecdote.

Kevan Williams was a stoutly built goalkeeper! Famed for his long term injury of a broken arm sustained whilst putting it into in a cement mixer! ??? ::)
Mad as cheese!

Mal Cobley was the club photographer with a wide angle lens large enough to photograph Kev's a##e!
