LLL I was at the Armitage game and I think it was a 10.30 kick off but would have to sort out the programme. My lasting memory is of the ball going in the corn on the cob field on the side of the ground and H going into it to retrieve the ball and getting lost in the undergrowth which was taller than him.

Great news regarding the live stream. ‘Technology permitting’ of course so possible to go wrong but fair play to Dan for trying to give it a go. For a club at our level to even attempt such a thing is brilliant and really hope it works.

Interesting to see how it will work with the two games, if it will be split squads. My assumption would be that the Rocester game is possibly seen as the more prestigious friendly being a 3pm kick off and the Studley one being at 10.45 is probably more for the U21s and the not so regular first teamers. Although my assumptions normally prove wrong.

Also to note again it’s a shame crowds are not permitted as the staggered kick off times would more than allow enough time to travel and watch the two games on the same day.

Didn't we play Dudley Town, KO 10am, a few seasons back. It was the same day England played Sweden in the quarter finals of the World Cup.

Edit - on second thoughts, I think KO would have been a little later than that.
Think this was an 11am KO chap.

I think that happened with one of your nephews too.

Still no pre-11:00s though!

I suspect that there were some back in the dim-and-distant, back in the days when we played on Christmas Eve, twice on Christmas Day and again on Boxing Day.

As an aside, when did we last play on Christmas Day?

That's a reasonable one to keep you away from watching The Bears spank the pears at HQ.
it took me as long to look this up as does the concrete jungle stay in my memory when I think of my favourite cricket grounds ..... and the answer is never, post WWII. In 49, 55 & 77 we played on Dec 24th, 26th, 27th

Winning draw for The Bears - I'm sure you'll grow to love The Emirates Coca-Cola Edgbaston MegaBowl after you've seen a few 100 matches there, now that Worcester have merged into Warwicks to form our new team, The Brummy Grizzlies.

Considering that league football continued (oddly) doing it well into the '60s, I'm surprised that we didn't.

When I started work in 60s I remember being told Villa used to play Wolves on Xmas Day. In Villa archives I can’t see an Xmas Day match after 1951.
