Pre-Season

Post by YeltzDoc » 26 Jul 2020, 20:14

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES:

1st Aug @StudleyFc (a) 10.45am
1st Aug @RocesterFC1876 (a) 3pm
11th Aug @Alvechurch1st (a) 7.45pm

Under current guidelines these games will be played behind close unless we receive further instruction.

Is 10:45 the earliest kick off we’ve ever had?

I can think of one possible contender, but I don’t remember exactly and any other Christmas / Easter fixtures were never earlier than 11:00.

Shame the friendlies currently are behind closed doors but can appreciate why in current circumstances.

Hoping we can get Yeltz TV highlights to view from these games. Will be something for us fans considering as we won’t be allowed at the games.

Would you be thinking of the BSC tie at Bodymoor Heath by any chance? Can't remember what time in the morning that kicked off. I just remember going to the Blues on the afternoon.

Yes, that's the one. I think it was 11:00 or maybe even 12:00 though.

As a pseudo-Bluenose you must have enjoyed your day thoroughly, a visit to the Villa's training ground followed by a trip down to St Andrews for a nice easy FA Cup game against non-league opposition...

Didn't we play Dudley Town, KO 10am, a few seasons back. It was the same day England played Sweden in the quarter finals of the World Cup.

Edit - on second thoughts, I think KO would have been a little later than that.

Still no pre-11:00s though!

I suspect that there were some back in the dim-and-distant, back in the days when we played on Christmas Eve, twice on Christmas Day and again on Boxing Day.

As an aside, when did we last play on Christmas Day?

That's a reasonable one to keep you away from watching The Bears spank the pears at HQ.

There will be Twitter updates on both games and Yeltz TV highlights from Rocester at a minimum ....but watch this space ... I’m told we are investigating possible live streaming
