Percy Rose

Post by stevecullen » 16 Dec 2011, 20:32

I have been tracing my family history for many years and was told by my late mother and another relative that my great uncle Percy Davenport Rose played for Halesowen Town, although nobody knew any details. Today I noticed on the club website a mention of "Percy Rose, that great stalwart who held the record for the longest service with one club in England" and wondered if this was my great uncle.

I don't know if anyone out there may have any further information on this Percy Rose but I can say that my great uncle was born in Shenstone Street, Halesowen on 16 July 1880 and died at 40 Whitehall Road, Halesowen on 13 October 1938.

Family legend has it that the team used to change in the bar of the Waggon and Horses pub on Stourbr*dge Road during Percy's time at the club.

Any information you have, even if it is only to confirm this is a different person, would be very much appreciated - I can be contacted direct at sacullen@hotmail.co.uk if anyone has any information.

Thanks in anticipation!
