Two James and two Jamie`s. We were told the "Jimmy" facilities would be upgraded in the pre season

Still none of last year's squad then. We probably will start the new season with a completely fresh 11.
When Paul Smith took over, he would have (I imagine, I could be wrong) had the choice to stick with the players that wanted to stay on from last season, or have a complete clear out - He's made the correct choice, so far. And I'm encouraged by what I've read about his signings, but then again, you're always positive in pre-season aren't you? I was buzzing this time last year, look what happened...

Now, some of last seasons squad may well re-sign, or the very least, Smith may ask them back to prove themselves in pre-season and / or training. But I for one, am very pleased to not see any of last seasons squad return (Have I mentioned I wouldn't mind if they didn't??!!). With the exception of Platt, Morris and Kelly. Maybe Lawton too.

In short, Paul Smith is well on his way to a complete clear out and overhaul in playing staff, by signing a core of promising young talent on contract, which will hopefully form the spine of a consistent group of players for a number of seasons. Two big decisions, which I think he has got spot on. Only time will tell, though.

And pre-season is the best time to rebuild, rather than part way through a season. I cant wait for it to start again tbh. Be interesting to see how it all pans out.

As regards last season's players it looks as though they don't want to drop down a step or Paul Smith doesn't rate them.
The latter is more likely, in my opinion

Great, it's what we all wanted and what is needed. Would be interested to know the future of Morris and Kelly though as both would be good players to retain.

I like what he says. Nice to have a full squad ready for pre-season. I suspect there will be a few changes but it will be nice to have a solid team going into the first game of the season.
