As I've said before, a lot of our players appear good enough individually. As a collective they do not! Signings or a new direction managementwise please.

I’d like to see a central midfielder that can create and two wingers. I think that’s where we lack a little.

A bit before your time Josh but a Malcolm Hazelwood type would suit very nicely. Other wrinklies will agree with me I suspect.

A big ask Brother Avery.

I’m prepared to be schooled by those wrinklier than me, but I suspect that Malcolm would have got in any team that has ever played at The Grove.
Wonderfully creative, inspirational captain, hard working, nasty as feck when necessary, and scored 15-20 a season from midfield.
How he never played league football is a mystery.

One of only two who I’ve named pets after.
No greater honour exists.

80s, 90s. There wasn't much he couldn't do. As Doc said, without a doubt could have played a high standard of league football but we were just so lucky to have him for many years alongside the Joinson twins who I am sure you have also heard about. He could pick out a forward pass long or short at will, he could score all kinds of goals and he could get stuck in with the best of them. A great captain, an excellent player.
I'm really not sure how we kept players of that calibre so long back then, many who should have been playing league football. It's not that the scouting system was not as good because everybody knew about them. I'm sure if we have a player that good now they will be moving on via Stourbr*dge quite quickly. ::)

I named a pet after Sneekes ;D ;D (as a kid, not recently). My brother named one after Yorke. Some chap who played for Villa, I think.

Brilliant. Thanks for that post. Oh, how I wish I was alive to see that 80’s squad.
