For all the football fans in Halesowen. It is getting serious overhere in Holland ! This is a message from my cycling club :

Please pay attention to the following.

As previously communicated, the board of WSV De Zwaluwen Deventer has canceled all group rides and training sessions until March 31, 2020.

There are still groups left from the Scheg on Saturday morning. Incidentally, they were not organized group rides.

It goes without saying that everyone has their own responsibility, but reports from members indicate that the severity of the coronavirus (Covid -19: COronaVIrusDisease2019) has not really reached everyone yet. As board and committees, we see it as our task to interpret the seriousness of the situation.

That is why a message from an IC doctor from Breda is shown below as an illustration. The message was received by a member and medical specialist of De Zwaluwen.

“As an intensive care doctor, I will inform you about the current situation. It is really crisis! Several patients are admitted to ICU for ventilation every day. Old, less healthy people, but now there are also three patients between the ages of 40-50 and yesterday I even had to put a healthy boy of 16 on the ventilator and go to Rotterdam.

So far we are following the Italian line up and they are really making an emergency call. They are about 2 weeks ahead of us, but you can of course see and read all that in the media yourself. So the coming period will be very exciting. Particularly for hospital staff, equipment and capacity. Let's hope it's not too bad but I'm afraid. I think it is important that people see the urgency and that it is very serious. Situation in Brabant is escalating fast.

Care capacity is likely to become overloaded in the coming days. Nurses will be trained in emergency breathing apparatus training this weekend. And the ventilation capacity has doubled with art and flying work. Number of infections and admissions are really going up exponentially. Rest of NL is only a few days behind.

So advice: no parties, family visits or dinners. Physical social contacts to 0, and then hope that we can stretch the pandemic so that the demand for care does not exceed the supply ”.

We as the board of the Swallows therefore strongly advise against cycling in groups for the next few weeks. For example, the number of infections is not accelerated. They call this social distancing in Hong Kong.

De Volkskrant has an interesting article about what they are doing in Hong Kong to curb the spread of the virus under the title "How Hong Kong holds the corona virus with an velvet hand in an iron grip." They know the impact of SARS when 299 people died. 55 days after the first infection they know ONLY 120 confirmed cases in a city of 8 million people, while 1,500 people have been tested.

Let's take up our gloves as De Zwaluwen. The most important thing is to slow down the rate of infections so that care can be organized and not overloaded.

Sharing is allowed, even possible.

Not closed at the moment but people are being advised not to go to them. I think more harsh measures will be put in place soon though as is happening around the rest of Europe.

I wouldn't get too upset - there won't be any more football this season.
Just my realistic opinion.
Stay healthy!

Save your cash for the time being Ronnie. IF this season ever restarts we may have some big promotion games in the summer! Who knows?
