The decision is made :

Ajax is not declared national champion, but is designated as number one of the premier division for the distribution of European tickets. The KNVB has decided that now that the competition cannot be completed due to the consequences of the corona crisis.

In addition, there is no promotion and relegation in the highest football leagues. ADO Den Haag and RKC Waalwijk, the numbers seventeen and eighteen of the premier division, remain active at the highest level. Cambuur and De Graafschap, the numbers one and two of the first division, also play in the first division next year.

Top five enters Europe
The professional football board of the KNVB decided to maintain the current position in the rankings for the distribution of European tickets. UEFA advised the national federations to stay as close as possible to the league position on Thursday.

That is why Ajax and AZ play in the (preliminary round of the) Champions League and numbers three to five, Feyenoord, PSV and Willem II, enter the (preliminary rounds of the) Europa League.

The number 1 of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie is challenging the Dutch FA ! They were at the top of the league but now they have to start again next season.

Cambuur decides to challenge KNVB: "Remain militant until the end"
Cambuur will definitively challenge the decision of the KNVB to refrain from promotion and relegation of clubs in professional football, the club from Leeuwarden reports. "For the time being, we will keep all options open and we will jointly investigate the most promising route to justice," says a statement prepared by the management on the website.

The club hired lawyer Dolf Segaar from the international law firm CMS. A few years ago, Segaar assisted FC Twente in a legal battle against the KNVB.

"Where it reinforces each other, we will join forces with De Graafschap in this process," said Cambuur. De Graafschap also grabbed a place in the premier league, as a result of the decision of the professional football board of the KNVB.

Cambuur feels seriously disadvantaged by the football association and the decision came "like a sledgehammer". "That in our case the KNVB chose to let RKC play football in the premier league next season and SC Cambuur has been sentenced to another year in the Kitchen Champion Division feels like serious injustice," said Cambuur. The club led the first division and says that 99.5 percent promotion was certain, based on data from authoritative data agencies.

,, The coming days and weeks will undoubtedly follow the developments and reports in the media at a rapid pace. The fact remains that with a premier league of twenty clubs with good solidarity agreements about the distribution of money and flexibility of municipalities and governments, we had done the football service a good service, "said the board." We don't know how it will all end, but we certainly know is that we are militant and we will remain this until the bitter or bittersweet end. "

Former FC Groningen director Hans Nijland makes a fierce appeal to the KNVB to start the upcoming Eredivisie season with twenty clubs. He hopes that SC Cambuur and De Graafschap can still obtain a doctorate and has nothing to do with mayors who interfere with the situation.

Nijland is referring to Paul Depla, the citizen father of Breda, who had indicated that he was against twenty clubs. "I think he is a great man," says Nijland. "But then I think: don't say anything. Try to solve it among yourself. First there was all that mayor of Eindhoven (John Jorritsma, ed.) Who had to give his opinion about football if necessary. Really incomprehensible. Then I am glad that we have a sensible citizen father in Groningen (Koen Schuiling, ed.) Everyone thinks in problems and purely in their own interest. First look for a constructive solution. "

Nijland sees that Cambuur and De Graafschap were well on their way to promotion and that the former club, with which he has good contact, was already busy during the winter break to become Eredivisie-proof. He thinks it is not possible that both clubs should not be promoted and has already figured out how to do it, he says. "Yes, then we will not start playing football until September. Then the calendar will be full."

'Football at Christmas'
Nijland even suggests to continue playing at Christmas. "We did that a few years ago. That was fine. You will also have to play an extra game during the week. That will probably work. After that year you will get a reinforced promotion / relegation scheme. You could even choose to go back to eighteen clubs in two years. Which is handy. "

The former Groningen director not only looks at sports, but also business. Players in the Kitchen Champion Division earn a low salary, but things are different in the Eredivisie. "These contracts often state that 25 or 50 percent will be added to promotion. Whole families count on this. In addition, they are now missing out on premiums."

Nijland points to his son Stef Nijland, who plays at De Graafschap 'and has done well in his career'. "But there are also boys who depend on that. I don't hear anyone about that. Worse things are happening in the world, certainly, but I dare say that this is quite dramatic for Cambuur and De Graafschap."

This Friday, Cambuur and De Graafschap will face the KNVB in court, after which a judge will ultimately give a decision. "I make an urgent appeal to everyone involved: let the clubs and the union come out here together. Just put the egos and their own interests aside. Solve it together. Twenty clubs in the Eredivisie, that is now the fair solution for everyone" Nijland says.

Royal Dutch Football Ass. ( KNVB) is bothering Cambuur and De Graafschap: no accelerated procedure necessary'

The KNVB does not intend to agree to an accelerated procedure for the general members' meeting. The Leeuwarder Courant reports this. The deadline of May 25 therefore seems unfeasible for SC Cambuur, De Graafschap and FC Utrecht.

The three clubs want to request a members' meeting to overturn the previous decision of the KNVB about how the season is ended. This requires at least four clubs to request the meeting. After that it normally takes about four weeks to actually bring the clubs together. An accelerated procedure is possible, but according to LC 'the KNVB does not consider this necessary'.

The football association points to the spring meeting that is scheduled for June 18. However, this is more than three weeks after the UEFA deadline, which wants unions to announce before May 25 why the competition will be ended and how European spots will be divided. For FC Utrecht, that means that a place for the Europa League cannot be forced in a members' meeting.

In the meantime, Cambuur and De Graafschap have gone to court to challenge the KNVB's decision not to let them obtain their doctorate. The case will be filed on 8 May.

It may take a while before that general members' meeting takes place. The KNVB must agree to an accelerated procedure, but does not consider it necessary and points to the spring meeting of the football association. According to Dolf Segaar, it is scheduled for June 18.

Official sports competitions and competitions can take place from 1 September without an audience, provided the corona virus remains under control. This applies to both amateur and professional football.

Without spectators but there is football again. :)
