Back again - but unfortunately lost old posts and users

Post by Poll » 29 Apr 2011, 07:26

After yet another round of catastrophic failures with the idiots at the old hosting company, we've had to take the drastic step of moving hosts.

Unfortunately this means we've lost all of the old information - both membership and posts.  >:(

We're still hassling the old company to see if anything can be be saved, but assuming that doesn't happen (and it almost certainly won't) we'll need to you re-register on here I'm afraid. Hopefully the new hosts will prove more reliable and this will be the last outage for a while.

I'm still trying to get everything back to normal on here, so if you have any problems or find anything missing either PM me or send me an email at poll@yeltzland.net and I'll do what I can (still learning about this forum software)

Cheers
Poll

Sterling work as ever from Brother Pollard.
Another "bonus" is that all of the spammers, malcontents and general ne'er-do-wells will be back.
But, in the spirit of (almost) everyone deserving a second (third? Twelfth?) chance then everybody's welcome until the usual idiocy kicks in.

call me cynical but this ain't the first time the forum has gone down in a short space of time for 'hosting problems'
potential coincidence? but non the less, i hope its the last time we as supporters are left "in the black" without our forum.

its becoming cliche but this is a crucial time, we need to stick together, so thank you Poll for your efforts resurrecting the forum once again!

You're not cynical Frodo, just wrong.

The host company are f'ing useless and all of the problems are technical.

Nobody has taken us down, threatened us with anything, insisted on anything being removed or any such like.

It's been purely, 100%, problems with the US company that has the servers where the site is held.

I left it as long as I could before moving, as it was going to put us back to zero posts and zero users (and I'd just paid for two years hosting with the old company...) but it was just one problem too many.

The new hosts come highly recommended and while they cost a bit more, I guess you get what you pay for.

Doc.

I can confirm what Doc says is completely false true, but it's good to see that things haven't changed and there are always people who will correctly see a conspiracy in everything.
