Re: market off
Just spoke to HH. Gosh.
If I'd have put him on speaker I'd now be posting from an Emerati Jail...

Re: market off
Huge hailstorm about an hour ago but the pitch must have been in doubt before then.

Re: market off
Just got back via JohnC's limo.
Approaching Market Drayton we drove through a monster of a hailstorm and as we approached the ground the roads were almost white over from the hail. We went through the turnstiles and the pitch looked OK with a little surface water in the nearest goalmouth. We commented that it would be fine and headed for liquid refreshment. At that we looked over to the referee who threw the ball into the air and it splatted in the puddle without bouncing. At this point we all looked at each other with the look of 'That doesn't look good'. At this the referee was shaking his head and a number of their players headed off quicker than me hearing the bell for last orders.
A nameless Halesowen person mentioned that the referee was 'frightened' quoting Health & Safety.
What has annoyed me about this was the pitch was supposedly fine before the storm, so clearly the drainage is OK at this ground. It wasn't raining when the referee called off the game at 2:20pm - Why could the referee have not given it another 15-20 minutes before making a decision? There didn't appear to be anyone even TRYING to work on the pitch at all. If 15-20 minutes later the pitch wasn't playable after allowing the rain to naturally soak away or by being worked on, then fine. It wouldnt have hurt to give it longer as it didn't stop anyone travelling especially as the Yeltz fans were either there or almost there. Gutted.

Re: market off
Yeah gutted AVFCYELTZ, it's Market Drayton that will miss out big time, there seemed a fair few Yeltz fans, I would imagine this will be replayed on a Tuesday night, can't imagine we will bring as many unless it's one of the last games of the season and it's a fight for the title.

Coalville home and dry at Goole
Leek still have twenty minutes to play as their game at Gresley was delayed from restarting at half time because of a storm. Lets hope it finishes as Gresley 4-1 up
