Re: Goole
Just Googled this owner...more to this story than meets the eye.
I'd be worried....
Taken from the Times site back in 2003;
Tycoon's son to appeal sex conviction
'A wealthy businessman's son who was found guilty of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl has been given leave to appeal against his 12-month prison sentence.
Former property developer Baron Bloom, 28, the son of millionaire businessman Desmond Bloom, was said to have taken advantage of the schoolgirl after impressing her with his wealth.
He was jailed at the Old Bailey last Friday. His parents were at the Court of Appeal today, ready to put up £250,000 or more to secure his release on bail pending an appeal hearing.
Mr Justice Beatson refused to grant bail, but ordered an expedited hearing of the appeal, which could be as early as June 10.
Bloom, of St John's Wood, north-west London, had denied the attack but was found guilty following a trial in December. He was later cleared of indecently assaulting the girl's 14-year-old friend.
The younger girl had collapsed after drinking too much champagne with Bloom and his friends at a Mayfair nightclub in September 2001. Both girls went to Bloom's flat because it was too late to go home. The 15-year-old said Bloom fondled her as she lay on a double bed with him, his friend and the 14-year-old.
Bloom's lawyers will argue at the appeal that the jail term was "manifestly excessive" in the circumstances and that Bloom, when he was released on bail for probation service reports after his conviction last December, had a "legitimate expectation" that he would receive a non-custodial sentence.
The judge heard that Bloom had recently declared himself bankrupt and wound up his interests in his property development company, but still had access to wealth through his parents, who had funded his defence.'

He has also tried to buy clubs before;
Workington reject second takeover bid by Baron Bloom
'Workington have rejected a second and final bid from London-based property tycoon Baron Bloom to take over the running of the club.
The 37-year-old said it was a "best and final offer" to purchase the club, but board members voted against the proposal at a meeting on Wednesday.
However, Bloom has since told BBC Sport he is yet to receive an "official response" from Workington.
He also revealed he is in negotiations with another unnamed club.
In accordance with the football club's board obligations, chairman Humphrey Dobie and the directors met to discuss the offer and consider whether the tender be put to the club's shareholders before any takeover could proceed.
"The board had to make sure the offer met the value of the club," Workington reporter John Walsh told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"The [undisclosed] offer was felt to have fallen well short of that value.
WORKINGTON AFC
Founded in 1921, Reds' best Football League finish came with a fifth place showing in the 1965-66 Division Three campaign
Workington failed to win re-election to the Football League in 1977 - and were replaced by Wimbledon
Borough Park - their home ground - holds 3,101, with 500 seats.
"As I understand it though, Baron Bloom, if he wants to pursue this, can contact the shareholders directly and do it that way."
Bloom, the son of property developer Desmond, established himself as a property tycoon alongside his father at the start of the millennium.
He floated Eurocity Properties on the London Stock Exchange prior to leaving the company in April 2002, having acquired properties throughout the United Kingdom during his stint as managing director, although the Blooms were criticised by the company's board following their departure .
However, his rise was temporarily halted by a three-month prison term after he was convicted of indecent assault in January 2003.
On his release, Bloom returned to business by forming property investment advisory practice Citigroup Estates, and in addition is currently chief executive officer at the tailoring industry supplier CA Sperati.
Workington dropped out of the Football League when they failed to get re-election in 1977, and currently lie in the Blue Square Bet North relegation zone.'

Something ain't right here, I'm starting to feel scepticism by fans earlier in this thread is valid...

Re: Goole
In order to achieve what the management and I have in mind we need home attendances of 500 at least, so we have a long way to go. We would encourage the fans to bring their friends and family and make a day of it. Come and watch Goole AFC, have a drink and sample the good food on offer, in an environment which lends itself perfectly. Come on The Vikings.
Wow, 500? Thats more than Scarborough.

Re: Goole
A 300+% increase, who are these muppets who try and take over football clubs (at all levels) think they are? Paul Daniels......?
I imagine the league will be saying goodbye to Goole at somepoint in the next two seasons (or months!), but it won't be because they've been promoted............
It's ok though, the unfit and improper persons test will help them out..........not alot.......
