Re: Club Crest Updated
11 pages would suggest this topic is of major importance, which of course it is.
However, just had a rough count here and tallied less than 30 differing contributors. In an earlier post, I said

One issue i have with forums, it's the same name ranting repeatedly. We have 8 pages of waffle here and it looks like, from our average gate of 461, there must be 400 objectors, my guess, it could be as few as 30.
Andy replied,
2 Where do get the idea 30 people would be against it. I could guess 300 but have no more idea than you
3 If I didn't love the club as well I wouldn't bother 'whinging' as you put it.
So, less than 30 contributors, I'd say, there are the current facts. How many of our 461 average are for or against?

If its 30 out of 30 that would suggest maybe 461 in favour

Have you contacted the club through official channels? as this is unofficial.
Just a thought, imagine if all this energy into this matter was actually put towards something positive like working parties or helping in other areas......

I'm not usually one for getting involved in the "I've done more than you" willy waving contests but if you counted up the numbers of hours that many of those discussing this have contributed, then you would get a very large number.CRHTheTog wrote:imagine if all this energy into this matter was actually put towards something positive like working parties or helping in other areas......

I've no view on your change of badge - none of my business - but cripcrap's comments nudged me to comment in a general sense...
Two years ago we changed our badge. Perhaps ironically, we made the opposite "journey" - from something that had a bit of a 70s look about it (I think our old round badge, which was very similar to your new one, first appeared in the mid 1970s) to one with a more traditional and historic feel.
We had a lot of positive comments via social media etc, a few negative ones, and a fair number along the lines of "whether I like it or not, I'd prefer to have been consulted".
Over all, though, the number of people expressing any kind of view was a drop in the ocean of our support base. And I'd say the same applies here.
The vast majority of fans really aren't that bothered.
HOWEVER, that doesn't mean the club should ignore the views of a vocal, and by definition perhaps, passionate element of a club's support.
By way of a bigger and better example - remember when Hull City's owner wanted to change the club's name to Hull Tigers? Caused uproar, didn't it? Boycotts, protests, campaigns, petitions, questions in Parliament, and all that. Yet when HCFC ran a poll amongst their Season Ticket holders 60% (that's sixty per cent) couldn't be bothered to vote at all one way or another on a subject that was apparently so crucial.
Never over-estimate the feedback you get via forums, facebook, twitter, etc. Yes, it's a litmus test in some ways, but it's not always a reliable guide to strength of feeling on anything, good or bad.

Ive tried clicking on all the relevant contact links a few times but none seem to work. Would it be possible for somebody to either contact the relevant people or point them in the direction of the forum. Many thanks.CRHTheTog wrote:Have you contacted the club through official channels? as this is unofficial.

I thin you're very, very wrong. All polls are only a fraction of the amount of people overall and yet percentagewise they prove to be fairly accurate. If there were a lot of people strongly against this proposed alternative badge that Poll has knocked up i'm sure they would have voiced their opinion also. Yet NOBODY has.....The Reasonable Man wrote:I've no view on your change of badge - none of my business - but cripcrap's comments nudged me to comment in a general sense...
