One that I never understood was Dot's shout when an opposition striker balloons a shot over the bar.
"Three points to Wigan" I could work out, but "Windy!" was always a mystery to me.

Always had a lot of time for Dot. Remember the first time
I met her and was introduced she proclaimed "that I was a good looking chap and if only she was 30 years younger! I ain't got my legs but everything else still works!" Needless to say a great first impression and also spoke in length at every home game about recent matches.

So sad. Will miss you Dot. My favourite story with Dot was that back around 1999 my wife and I went on an Express anD Star readers trip to York and the dales. Coming out of a shop on the Shambles into a heaving crowd we walked straight into Dot. She regaled me with the story at least four times a season right upto last season.

Dot was a real Yeltz character, one of the best. She will be missed hugely and her corner vantage spot at the Grove will seem a very empty place from now on, although we have many fond memories.

No-one will forget Dot’s helpful advice for where the linesman should put his flag or what a burly opposition defender should do with the corner flag. But beneath those loud words, let’s not forget she was a lovely lady who did much to help her beloved Halesowen Town over many years. She was also very brave in recent seasons, still making the effort to come to games on the Ring & Ride.

It was unique that when I travelled around the old Southern League grounds the opposition press always seemed to want to know all about Dot just as much as they did about our team. She gave me plenty of light-hearted ‘stick’ on the PA over the best part of 30 years, but it always was a pleasure to play her one of her favourite Andy Williams tracks. With many thanks to the original contributors on this forum, some more great picture memories of Dot follow:

Dave, thanks so much for sharing those pictures. Really good to see. Obviously I don't remember the 1961 times but it would be good to hear on here about the 50s and 60 days from any who still attend. Ken goes about as far back as I can hear about the old days from. I think I might be right in thinking Dot was at the 1955 record attendance match against Hendon. Was anyone else on here?

It will soon be 60 years since our 13-1 against Coventry Amateurs, I wonder if Dot was at that match?
