I remember the Dudley incident pretty clearly. We were absolutely cruising with no threat at all from dudlay when the ball hit Danson. I'm pretty sure it was Aidrian Coopers' boot that felled Danson. The match was held up for an eternity and when it resumed there was only one side in it and we lost. Cooper later joined us and a couple of years later, Danson reffed us in a cup match at the Grove and I recall him and Cooper having a laugh in the centre circle before the game started., obviously reminiscing together . Danson went on to ref in the football league but was never of the highest quality.

Andy Cranage played just the once for us, our 5-4 away win at Atherstone on 6/9/1999.
CRANAGE BROWN** COOPER* WOOD LLOYD GARDINER BIRCH CRISP** SMITH ROWLAND COLLINS
subs: HOLLIS OWEN HARVEY
Danny McDonnell was our regular goalie, at the time when John Chambers was our Manager. Adrian Cooper was a local lad, I played in the same Junior School side as his Dad. Adrian scored 17 goals and made 137 starts.
I can’t find any appearances for Pigott, Hall & Horne

Mr Yeltzdoc, I do think that you should re-phrase your last sentence.

Here's current assistant manager Matt Clarke, together with Jason Owen, defending against Gary Piggott in the same game:

Gary Piggott appears on the 1999/2000 Yeltz team photo and reports from Poll's Yeltzland show that he came on as a sub early in that season as well as appearing in pre-season.

And here's one of Jason Owen's finest from 2000...

You're correct DJ, Gary Piggott was selected 5 times as sub at the start of the 2000-01 season, which I assume makes that squad photo at the start of that season?

The description suggests that this was the Jason Owen "wonder goal".
And our forward pairing of Ian Aldridge and Clinton Thomas certainly struck fear in the hearts of the fans.
The Halesowen fans.

The odd, "red shinpad peeking through frayed sock" motif would suggest that the one player in the original pic is Jason Owen.
As for the other one, I'm sticking with Snapper's arse all night long.

Great thread DJ, from frankly great times. Great memories of that run in to the seasons climax in 96 in which we so narrowly missed out to Rushden and also the previous seasons midweek trip to Gretna. P.S. It never halted my unbroken run on the way to 8 odd years, nor did it stop Doc getting there from London, shame on you HH. ;)

In my defence I was extremely young back then..........I got threatened that I'd be kicked out of home if I went to Gretna having not been to work as I had to have stitches in my mouth (yes go on, I'll wait for those jokes) earlier in the day. A valid reason I reckon. I didn't work, lived out of my parents pockets and scrapped around for cash to go to games. A bit like Doc............. ;)
