I went to see him when he was 16 , to see if he was as good as everyone was saying. He was .

I can remember him making an appearance in Halesowen at the Halifax building society (I think). I got an autograph but hadnt a clue back then. Always presented as a decent bloke

And his son, James, played for us briefly, so a good chance he came to a few matches.
