Although it looks as if they will get promotion. (10 games in hand on the league leaders and 4 points behind). Look at Tividale's upcoming fixture list....

Wow, 22 games in 2 months.

Just to goad L3 out of his slumber, how does that compare with our '83/5/6 run-ins?

An afternoon slumber is most welcome at my age, even when it's 15 mins during The Book Thief at the cinema. I'm sure I awoke this afternoon during a nightmare of The Yeltz playing in black (never may that happen again) and on a 3G pitch >:(

From 30 March (the 2nd and home leg of the Wisbech Vase Semi) to 25th May 1985 we played 24 matches.
Appropriately for this thread, included in that run were 2 matches against Tividale on successive nights and when there were many changes in our line-ups

20-May-85 TIVIDALE H 345 2 0 CALDICOTT MOORE SHERWOOD WARNER RANDLE HEATH HAZLEWOOD SMITH D WESTON JOINSON P* JOINSON L PENN
21-May-85 TIVIDALE A 2 2 CHILTON BRADLEY MOORE GUEST LACEY PENN WESTON* STAFFORD WOODHOUSE WHITEHEAD DUNKLEY* NOKES
We returned there 2 nights later to win the League Cup, 3-1 against Oldswinford.

Can't remember the name of it but they do a cracking pale ale from America in their bar. Nice club is Tividale, I once broke the crossbar there. On occasions as a kid I played in goal, and I tried to jump up and swing on the crossbar in the pre match kick about. The wooden crossbar was rotten though and snapped completely in the middle. They had to patch it together before kick off..

Yellow card offence A.V.F.C. and I'd suggest the loss of one of your 'Georges' . What do you say Westy ?
I would have suggested two losses but we won last Sunday.

I was only 14, didn't know better. The worry of the game not going ahead as a result of my actions was worse than any punishment a referee would give me.
