Yeltz fans in the 1960s may fondly recall Ray. The Shropshire Star reports that the ex Shrewsbury forward has died aged 88. He started his career at WBA before spells at Kidderminster and Burton. He joined Salop in 1954 and later left for Crewe in 1960 later having spells at Wellington Town and Halesowen Town. Ray scored 22 goals in 54 appearances and made his debut in a 4-1 away win at Redditch in the first match of the 1963/64 season, scoring 5 goals in the first 3 matches of that season.
