Not silly and I thought the exact same, especially as he was only in for this one match. But no, different players. I was just grabbing scans and have found a clipping confirming that they are in fact father and son.

Geoff Sr. retired from football and resigned as Manager of Tipton at the end of season 1984/85 in order to spend more time with his family.

Do I remember correctly a weekly column of his in The Argus that he used mostly to settle any scores that he hadn’t already negotiated in a two-footed fashion on the pitch?

Stan Jones on there too, looking as much like Tintin as he did in his handful of appearances for us a couple of years later.
Scored a ruck of goals for that lot inbetween, having previously done the same for Oldbury I believe.
